ABSTRACT

This project aims to develop a novel manufacturing method for concrete that not only enhances its performance but also significantly increases CO storage capacity. This is achieved through a biomolecule-regulated carbonation process, in which CO is injected into the cement slurry before it is mixed with other concrete ingredients. The presence of biomolecules regulates the carbonation reaction, enabling up to 50 times more CO storage compared to existing technologies while also enhancing the mechanical properties of the final concrete.
