Christopher Post, a professor in Clemson University – College of Agriculture, Forestry & Life Sciences, is collaborating with Syed Mohammad Ovais as part of the Intelligent River team. Together, they have developed an advanced sensor system to monitor water levels and flood risks in real-time. Known as “Bridgeboxes,” these compact devices that are approximately 5 by 6 inches, will be installed on bridges across the Upper Savannah River and it’s watersheds. The Bridgeboxes use radar to measure water levels every six minutes, transmitting data that supports assessments for flood risk with the help of the US Geological Survey.
This initiative is supported by a $300,000 grant from the South Carolina Office of Resilience (SCOR), awarded following the release of SCOR’s 2023 Strategic Statewide Resilience and Risk Reduction Plan. 🚀🚀🚀
