ABSTRACT

Animal diseases pose significant economic, health, and security risks, threatening the $236B U.S. food industry and public health through zoonotic outbreaks. Rapid, field-deployable diagnostic tools are essential for early detection and containment. Dr. Sagnik Basuray’s ESSENCE platform, a modular, microfluidic bio-detection system, enables multiplex detection of animal and zoonotic diseases from a single sample. Currently at TRL 3, ESSENCE offers high sensitivity and adaptability for rapid deployment against emerging pathogens.
