Institutional ART Project Clusters

Joining the NSF ART Online Portal empowers you and your organization to accelerate the translation of academic research into impactful real-world solutions.

Institutional ART Programs fund Seed Translational Research Projects (STRPs) to advance translational research and innovation to market for use-inspired applications of society’s most pressing challenges. The ART funded STRPs across all institutional programs are clustered in specific areas of high societal and economic impact with regional and national ecosystems of stakeholder groups including innovators, industry and government partners and community leaders. The STRP clusters presented here are designed to be dynamic and expected to be updated as more STRPs are added by ongoing and future ART funded programs.

Detection and Management of PFAS Contaminations

PFAS (polyfluoroalkyl substances) decontamination and management in environment, soil, water, wastewater, waste, and consumable products is rapidly emerging as a critical challenge to address through technology innovations.    These substances are linked to health risks ranging from cancer to birth defects. View the translational research and technology development projects addressing PFS related challenges from ART funded programs with stakeholder ecosystems.

Digital Infrastructure

Advanced national information digital infrastructure with security addressing applications based growing needs requires multidisciplinary translational research and innovation partnerships with all stakeholder groups. View the translational research projects in advanced digital infrastructure development from ART funded programs with stakeholder ecosystems.

Energy

Translational  research on energy efficiency and sustainability is a critical growing need in our society. View the translational research and technology development projects in energy generation, efficiency and sustainability  from ART funded programs with stakeholder ecosystems.

Geoscience Supplements

Geoscience research is integral to building a resilient plant. The magnitude of the challenges that underpin this initiative demands an integrated approach to engage scientists and engineers across disciplines to advance knowledge, empower communities, and generate innovative technological solutions that addresses societal needs in creating resilient communities. NSF is supporting supplemental funding from investigators that are serving as ART PIs to support translation activities that are geoscience-related and connected to advancing the major goals of the current ART awards. View the translational research projects in geoscience from ART funded programs with stakeholder ecosystems.

Healthcare Innovations

Recent technological and pharmaceutical advances in healthcare have enabled tremendous improvements in the diagnosis, treatment, and therapeutic intervention of critical diseases and many other challenges. Healthcare innovations today can bring global societal impact , View the translational research and technology development projects in healthcare innovations from ART funded programs with stakeholder ecosystems.
