What We Do
NSF ART or Accelerating Research Translation is a U.S. National Science Foundation program dedicated building capacity and infrastructure for translational research at U.S. Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) and to enhance their role in regional innovation ecosystems.
Our Community
Here you can connect and network with community stakeholders including NSF ART supported programs, researchers, collaborators, students, industry partners and businesses/investors to promote research translation to market with tech transfer and commercialization enhancing the institutional and national capacity for innovation translation for societal benefits. NSF ART Network community members can learn from other members about programs they are implementing, attend trainings and workshops, and share your experiences in accelerating research translation.
ARTISAN
An initiative designed to involve undergraduate students in translational research, raising awareness to the importance of research and technology translation to use-inspired applications of high societal impact, and enhancing educational experience through innovation and community engagement.
NSF Programs / Centers
U.S. NSF ART awardee institutions will help build and/or strengthen the institutional infrastructure to sustainably grow the institutional capacity for research translation in the short and long terms.
Workshops and Seminars
This initiative aims to foster a culture of innovative and entrepreneurial thinking, transforming attitudes towards research within the internal and external community that serves the public good, both societally and economically.
Training / Education
Educational/training opportunities are available, especially for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, to become entrepreneurs and/or seek use-inspired and/or translational research-oriented careers in the public and/or private sectors.
Tech Transfer
Translational research activities offer immediate opportunities for transition to practice creating economic and/or societal impact. Therefore, technology transfer is the natural outcome of translation.
Community Engagement
Engaging researchers, collaborators, students, industry partners and businesses/investors to promote research translation to market with tech transfer and commercialization.
Accelerating Research Translation (ART)
The Accelerating Research Translation (ART) program, initiated by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) through its Directorate for Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships (TIP), aims to expedite the transformation of academic research into practical solutions that benefit society.
